Make a Difference: Teach English in Palestine as a Volunteer

Are you interested in volunteering in the West Bank as an English teacher? Whether you’re a seasoned educator or someone looking to gain teaching experience, teaching English to Palestinians can be a rewarding experience. Immerse yourself in Palestinian culture and live with a local host family to truly understand the daily life of Palestinians under occupation.

Many individuals from around the world are drawn to Palestine to witness the challenges faced by Palestinians and to contribute to their English language development, especially in conversational skills. Palestinians are eager learners, whether for study abroad opportunities, employment prospects, or simply out of curiosity about different cultures and languages.

Opportunities to Volunteer as an English Teacher in Palestine

The Palestine Center in Hebron offers a program called “Teach English in Palestine” where volunteers can teach English to children, adults, and community members. Even if you have little to no teaching experience, the program provides support from qualified teachers to help you gain valuable skills in teaching English.

Program Details and Inclusions

The program focuses on enhancing conversational English skills through interactive activities for children aged 7-13, adults, and community members. Volunteers also have the unique opportunity to live with a Palestinian host family, immersing themselves in Palestinian culture and customs. Additionally, volunteers can take Arabic language lessons to further enrich their cultural experience.

Duration and Requirements

The Teach English in Palestine program offers flexibility in terms of duration, allowing volunteers to customize their program from three weeks to three months. Fluency in English is the only requirement, as all teaching materials are provided by the Palestine Center.

Visa Information

Upon arrival at Tel Aviv Ben Gurion airport or other border crossings, Israeli visas are issued for a standard 3-month period for citizens of certain countries. For other nationalities, it is essential to check visa requirements before traveling to Palestine.
