Why you should study Arabic?
- The Arabic language or the language of Daad is one of the most widespread languages within the group of Semitic languages, in the countries of the Arab world in addition to many other regions such as Turkey, Ahwaz, Mali, Chad, Senegal, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Iran, and South Sudan.
- The Arabic language represents an ancient Arab and Islamic culture and civilization, and it is a living, contemporary language that represents a wide segment of human societies that belong to a vital geographical area that is the focus of the world’s attention.
- Given the increasing demand for Arabic language learning by non-native speakers, for various motives; Political, diplomatic, economic, religious, cultural, educational, touristic, communicative, and others and the Arab Library’s lack of quality programs concerned with teaching Arabic, the Palestinian Center for Education worked to build an integrated program for teaching Arabic to non-native speakers to achieve the beneficiaries’ goals in a distinctive, updated and unconventional educational style.
What are the differences between MSA and the Palestinian Arabic?
Modern Standard Arabic (MSA)
Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), or Fus’ha, is the formal and standardized form of the Arabic language used across the Arab world. It serves as the medium for written communication in literature, official documents, and media broadcasts such as news and formal speeches.
MSA adheres to strict grammatical rules and remains consistent regardless of regional variations, making it a unifying tool for communication among Arabic speakers from different countries. However, it is rarely spoken in daily life and is primarily learned through formal education. Its precise and structured nature makes it ideal for professional and academic contexts.
Levantine Arabic – Palestinian Ammiya
Palestinian Ammiya, a dialect of Levantine Arabic, is the spoken vernacular used in everyday communication in Palestine. Unlike MSA, Ammiya is informal and deeply rooted in local culture, reflecting the region’s unique history and influences from languages like Turkish, Hebrew, and English.
Its grammar is less rigid, and its vocabulary often diverges from MSA, making it more accessible for casual interactions. Palestinian Ammiya is highly dynamic, evolving through social and generational changes, and is learned naturally at home and within the community. While not used for formal writing or official purposes, it serves as the lifeblood of everyday conversation and cultural identity.

What visa do you need to Study Arabic in Palestine?
To learn Palestinian Colloquial Arabic in Palestine, you’ll need an Israeli tourist visa, which allows a stay of up to 3 months. Obtaining a volunteer visa directly in Palestine can be more challenging, so it’s important to plan ahead for your visa requirements.
Visa Requirements for Palestine
If you’re planning to learn Palestinian Colloquial Arabic in Palestine and come from a country with an exemption agreement with Israel, you can obtain a tourist visa upon arrival at Ben Gurion Airport (Tel Aviv) or the Allenby-King Hussein Bridge border crossing. Typically, citizens from countries such as the United States and most European nations receive a three-month visa, valid for 90 days.
However, if your home country does not have an exemption agreement with Israel, it is essential to obtain a visa from the Israeli embassy or consulate in your home country before your visit. It’s worth noting that Israel now issues visas on a separate card containing a barcode to avoid passport stamps, as some Arab countries do not accept Israeli passport stamps. Ensure to verify whether your native country participates in a visa exemption agreement.

Unfortunately, individuals from countries like Pakistan and India wishing to learn Palestinian Colloquial Arabic or volunteer in Palestine must first obtain a visa from the Israeli embassy in their home country.
